Canoe Camping 6

Canoe Camping 6

When we say rain or shine, it’s rain or shine.

Canoe Camping is one of the weekends we look forward to all year. So a little rainy forecast wasn’t going to stop us.

Trip hosts made the early decision to keep everyone together on shore vs. paddling to our island in the rain. That saved a ton of stress and maybe even prevented hyperthermia.

We got extra tarps and worked as a team to set up a covered staging area, where we kept things dry.

We helped each other cover our tents, so everyone was set up quickly and had proper protection overnight.

And we set up the main attraction, our campfire! (We even set up a backup, just in case).

Since our camp chefs weren’t available to us, we improvised. We grilled, we potluck’d and we reheydrated freeze dried foods. Everyone shared everything. Everyone was stuffed.

The weather made paddling tricky (that wind, tho…) but we got out to explore our favorite routes.

We even managed to do our very first hike on this trip, a “coffee hike” to get our day started.

Not gonna lie. It was a colder than normal weekend. Swimming in 60-degree water actually helped keep us warm. (Well, some of us. Ha!)

But, despite the cold, despite the rain and despite the non-stop howling wind, your outdoorsy fam had another amazing weekend. And you will, too.

Check out all the upcoming camping trips.

P.S. Also, Happy Birthday to trip host Pam 🥳
